ALL eyes are on Innerleithen tonight as 2016's St Ronan's Standard Bearer, his Lass, Principal Guest, and Lady Busser will be revealed to the public.

Following the success of last year’s public nomination process, the St. Ronan’s Border Games Committee decided to run it again this year, and the deserving candidates will be announced at tonight at 8pm in Innerleithen's Memorial Hall - doors open at 7pm.

Music will be provided by Tweedvale (Innerleithen) Pipe Band and St Ronan's Silver Band.

The Standard Bearer and his lass will play leading roles in town’s annual celebrations at Games Week 2016, which runs from July 7-16.

Instituted in 1827, The Games are the oldest organised sports meeting in Scotland and are part of a ten day festival that incorporates many events for every age group. Central to the festivities are the Cleikum Ceremonies when the town's association with its Patron Saint, St. Ronan, is celebrated.

Carrying the Blue Banner of St. Ronan’s, the Standard Bearer is the representative of the Burgh and travels with his Lass and Supporters to neighbouring towns as they celebrate their own festivals during the summer months.

The Standard Bearer then goes on to be right and left hand supporter and retires from the flag party three years after his own year in office.
