A STEADFAST member of Peebles and District Community Council is standing down after over seven years.

Vice chairman and Chair of the planning sub-committee Crick Carleton was presented with a handmade keep-sake depicting the Peebles coat of arms, gifted by Red Cat Handmade, at last week’s community council meeting.

Some time was set aside at the beginning of the meeting for Crick to say his goodbyes and for councillors to wish him good luck.

Chairman Robin Tatler thanked Crick for his years of devoted service to the community council and to Peebles - a view that was seconded and ‘here here’d’ unanimously around the table.

Robin said: “We owe a great debt of gratitude to you Crick for all that you have done in making our Planning Committee effective, efficient and able to provide the scrutiny of decisions affecting Peebles required by our Community.

“Many thanks for everything you have done.”

Although not retiring from public duties completely, the ever-busy Crick will still be involved with Peebles Community Trust and with other community events as well.
