A DUNFERMLINE drug addict who “succumbed to temptation” and stole a wallet containing £350 from the Carnegie Leisure Centre has been jailed.

Scott Ronald Livingstone committed the “very nasty offence” after offering to pump up a ball while watching a football match at the leisure centre. The wallet was later recovered with £216 missing.

Livingstone, 34, of 37D Golfdrum Street, admitted that on April 27, he stole a wallet and its contents from the leisure centre.

He also admitted at Dunfermline Police Station the same day that he was in possession of diamorphine, a Class A drug.

Solicitor Alexander Flett told Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Wednesday that Livingstone had gone to the leisure centre after it had been suggested he should consider going to the gym as part of his community payback order.

Mr Flett said: “He stopped and watched some people playing football. The ball was flat and he offered to pump up the ball.

“He was taken up on the offer and was handed a bag with a pump. The wallet was also in the bag.

“Temptation was put in his way and he succumbed to it and took the wallet.”

Livingstone was later stopped by police. The wallet was found but there was only £133 inside.

Mr Flett acknowledged Livingstone had an “unenviable record”, adding: “He co-operated with police and apologised for what he had done.”

The court also heard that Livingstone had relapsed into heroin use and was on community payback orders.

Jailing Livingstone for eight months, Sheriff Craig McSherry blasted: “This was a very nasty offence.

“You were on a community payback order at the time but that did not seem to have made any difference to you and you continued to offend.”
