THREE starlets of the stage from West Linton have enjoyed an all-dancing, all-singing summer so far.

And last night Zoe Davidson, Doone Jeary and Megan McCaffrey enjoyed their first curtain call at Edinburgh's Playhouse Theatre.

The trio of 12-year-olds from Tweedale have been treading the boards for the past three weeks in rehearsals of Oliver.

They were selected for the major four-show production following auditions in March.

And all three enjoy roles in Fagan's gang of pickpockets.

Since the start of the month they have been learning the words and dance routines for songs such as Food Glorious Food, Consider Yourself, You've got to Pick a Pocket or Two and I'd do Anything.

Zoe's dad, Tommy Davidson, has been one of the adult chaperones during the rehearsals. He told us: "This is a very professional production and the girls are being made to work really hard.

"Rehearsals have run from 8.30am through to 6pm but they love it. It has been a magical experience for all three of them."

Oliver opened last night at the famous 3,000-seater theatre on Greenside Place.

And the girls will return for further shows tonight, tomorrow afternoon and then tomorrow evening.

The Tweeddale girls will be well supported during each performance.

Tommy added: "We have around 30 family members going over the four shows, including grandparents in their 90s. I know how much hard work has gone into this and it will be a fantastic production."

Director Peter Cory has been in charge of the Stage Experience production.

As well as a professional director the show has also brought in a top choreographer and13-piece orchestra.

Tickets for Oliver, which start at 7.30pm tonight and tomorrow, as well as the 2.30pm matinee, are still available from the box office.
