BORDERS MSP Christine Grahame is “delighted” after funding was secured to protect an area in Peebles which is prone to flooding.
Tweed Green has flooded five times in the last 10 years, but now money for a Property Level Protection scheme (PLP) has been provided by the Scottish Government.
Last December 30 properties, including a nursing home were flooded, causing millions of pounds worth of damage.
The MSP for Midlothian South, Tweeddale and Lauderdale told the Peeblesshire News: “I am delighted that the supply of a survey and the installation of flood protection products will be paid for through grant funding provided by the SNP Government.
“Residents have undergone enough stress without having to wait any longer for a solution to frequent flooding of the area.
“I understand that the council is at last going to facilitate the work to give people peace of mind and I am pleased they are now on board.
“I hope people will feel a little happier now and I am hopeful the work will be carried out before the bad weather sets in.”
