THE replacement for outgoing Borders College Principal Liz McIntyre has been revealed.

The board announced this morning that Angela Cox will take over the reins in the coming weeks.

Angela is currently Deputy Principal at The City of Liverpool College and boasts over 20 years experience in further education.

Ms McIntyre handed in her notice earlier this year after landing the Principal of North East Scotland College post.

Chair of the Borders College board, Tony Jakimciw, is delighted to have found a suitable replacement. He told us: "The appointment follows a challenging and robust selection process which attracted over 40 applicants.

"We are confident that Angela will take us forward to build upon the very strong legacy left to the College by Liz McIntyre."

Ms Cox was born and educated in Scotland and hails from Cumbernauld.

Her association with further education began as a student at Central College of Commerce in Glasgow, before progressing to study for a BA (Hons) and an MBA.

After working in the services industry in the USA and UK she began as a part time lecturer in Reading before progressing into several middle and senior leader positions at Bournemouth & Poole College.

Ms Cox is looking forward to returning to Scotland. She said: "I am excited by the tremendous opportunity the post brings.

"Borders College has a reputation as one of the most successful in Scotland and I look forward to working with students, staff, employers, stakeholders and partners to meet their ambitions and to successfully meet the needs of the Borders."
