A MAN from Eddleston has been told by a judge he could be jailed for child sex and child porn offending.
Malcolm Porter, 24, of Burnside, appeared at Carlisle Crown Court yesterday (Monday) to face 15 separate charges.
During a short hearing before Judge Peter Davies, Porter admitted one offence of attempting to cause a child aged under 16 to engage in sexual activity, on September 20, 2015.
Porter also pleaded guilty to five counts of distributing indecent photographs of a child, several of which are classed as category A - the most serious.
In addition, he admitted nine charges of making an indecent photograph of a child. One of these charges states that between September 27 and October 3 in 2015 he made 294 still and moving images classed in category A - the most serious.
Another relates to the making of 428 category B images, and a further charge involves 1,001 category C pictures.
Computer equipment is said to have been seized from Porter when he was arrested at an address in Carlisle in late 2015.
Judge Davies adjourned the case for background information to be prepared.
Porter was bailed and told he was due to be sentenced on July 6.
Judge Davies told him: "The fact that you are being granted bail today does not mean that you will be sentenced to a non-custodial sentence; you may still go to prison.
"All options are open."
