POLICE have received complaints about speeding and noise nuisance from revving engines in Peebles over the last month.

The latest police report given to the community council said officers had received five speeding/road traffic complaints between May 12 to June 8. 

On May 17, cars were reported to be revving their engines and speeding around Tesco car park. Officers attended but could find no trace of the vehicles.

On May 27, a report was received of a vehicle speeding round a roundabout in Kittlegairy. Enquiries are ongoing to trace the driver.

On May 30, police attended Kingsmeadows car park after a complaint of cars revving their engines and causing a nuisance. 

Officers found a number of cars parked, with engines off and no music. 

The drivers were moved on and given advice, plus litter from the vehicles was lifted and put in the bin.

Also on May 30, officers on patrol seized a van which had no insurance or MOT. 

The driver was issued with a Fixed Penalty Ticket for £400 and had six points put on their licence.

On June 6, a car was seized for having no insurance or MOT. The driver has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

There have also been two complaints about anti-social behaviour.

And, on May 27, youths were found drinking and causing a disturbance on Tweed Green. The group were spoken to about their behaviour.
