A TEMPORARY headteacher has been appointed at Peebles High School after its Rector Campbell Wilson suffered a stroke.

Paul Fagan, depute headteacher, has stepped into the role.

In a letter to parents last week, Mr Fagan said: “Unfortunately, at the beginning of the summer holidays, our headteacher Campbell Wilson suffered a stroke.

“He was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow and he has asked to pass on his gratitude to the medical staff for the excellent care he received through the critical period that is now over.

“Although he is recovering well he has a long journey ahead of him and will therefore not be with us for the start of the new term. I have been appointed to the position of interim headteacher with immediate effect.

“I look forward to leading the school as we continue to work toward our ambitious vision of providing an excellent learning environment for our young people while at the same time nurturing their physical, mental and emotional well-being.

“We all wish Campbell a full and speedy recovery and any messages that you would like to be passed on to him can be dropped off or sent into the school office.”
