A 59-year-old man who admitted being in possession of more than 1,600 indecent images of children at his Borders home has avoided a prison sentence at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.
William Bruce pleaded guilty to the offence which happened at a property in Cardrona between March 2013 and January 2017.
The court heard a total of 1608 images and 216 movies were recovered from three devices - mostly in the category C section which is deemed the least serious.
When interviewed by police, Bruce - now living in Dunfermline - gave no comment answers.
Bruce was given a Community Pay Back order involving supervision for the next 21 months with controls over the use of the Internet.
His name was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for 21 months.
