A 27-year-old man has appeared in private at Selkirk Sheriff Court in connection with a fire which caused extensive damage to a bowling club in the Borders.
Sam Williams is charged with culpable and reckless fire-raising following the blaze at Walkerburn Bowling Club in Caberston Road during the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The club was flooded two years ago and was recently refurbished following a fundraising drive.
Williams of Walkerburn, made no plea and the case was continued for further examination.
A motion for bail was refused and he was remanded in custody by Sheriff Peter Paterson.
