A SEVENTEENTH-CENTURY bridge over the West Water at South Slipperfield requires urgent repair, said a walker in correspondence with West Linton Community Council (WLCC).
Donald Dickie, from Edinburgh, who regularly walks over the structure, highlighted defects on the inner side of the parapet and on the piers supporting the bridge’s arch.
A stone in the side of the bridge states it was built in 1620 and restored in 1922 and it is listed under Scotland’s Places.
WLCC member Tim Brian said: "It is not an ancient monument or listed by Historic Environment Scotland.
“We could write or request a meeting with the landowner and say that it has been brought to our attention that some work is required on the bridge.”
