"CONTINUED" acts of vandalism at Vale of Leithen's Victoria Park has left the club's committee concerned.

Paving stones were smashed and paint daubed on walls at the weekend.

It is the latest in a series of incidents going back many months, and the committee has warned of the financial and safety implications of such behaviour.

They are now looking at the possibility of having the pitch enclosed.

A club spokesperson said: “The continued vandalism at the park is giving the club concerns with regard to the financial implications and safety issues.

“This season already we have had graffiti, broken slabs, drain pipes damaged, large stones on the pitch and before every home game we have to gather up the broken glass from the tunnel and dugout areas.

“Some glass has even been found on the pitch, which if missed could lead to a player being seriously cut. Last season we even had fires started in the stand.

“The club is at present in discussions with a local councillor with regard to having the pitch enclosed.”
