THREE men have been attacked by “male youths” in Peebles, according to police.

The victims, aged 68, 21 and 40 years old, were on Eastgate when the assault took place shortly before 7.30pm on Friday (March 15), say officers.

The 40-year-old man was taken to Borders General Hospital (BGH) where he is being treated for lacerations. 

It is being viewed by detectives as a “serious assault”.

The 21-year-old was also taken to the BGH for treatment.

The two male youths are around 15-16 years of age, according to police.

They were both wearing grey tracksuits and black jackets.

Detective Constable Liam Myers said: “We are following a number of lines of enquiry in relation to this incident to identify the youths responsible as soon as possible.

“I would urge any witnesses or anyone with information that may assist our investigation to contact us through 101 quoting incident number 3105 of March 15. 

“Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
