THE Jim Carruthers Memorial Walk will take place at Peebles Golf Club this weekend.

The ceremony for 2024 is planned for Sunday (March 24) at 11am at the Millennium Cairn (the 9th tee).

All those wishing to participate – golfers and walkers – are requested to arrive no later than 10.50 am. The ceremony will go ahead whether the golf match is played or not.

Immediately following the ceremony, at around 11.10am, a walk will begin for those who are not taking part in the captains vs vice-captains golf match.

The walk is open to anyone, including children, whether golf club members or not.

A spokesperson said: "Starting at the cairn, the route will initially take us west through the Jedderfield Plantation before heading north past the radio mast to Hamilton Hill and Standalane before returning to the clubhouse to coincide with the end of the golf match.

"The route should take around two-and-a-half hours to complete, including a snack break.

"There is no definite plan to return to the golf club by a particular time. However, as access to the clubhouse is no longer restricted to members and guests, any walkers who would like to go in for food and refreshments are welcome to do so. A suitable change of footwear should be brought if walking shoes are muddy."
