VISITORS look set to chill out in a Peebles park after agreement in principle was given for an ice cream van to operate there.
Peebles Common Good Sub-Committee has been approached by a trader who has requested they be allowed to park up the van at the town’s Victoria Park and Tweed Green.
Scottish Borders Council’s (SBC) parks department has also been approached and do not object to the bid, as long as any damage to the grass is made good.
There has yet to be a response from SBC’s licensing department.
Councillors at the meeting on Tuesday (April 9) expressed support for the move on condition that licensing raise no objections.
Committee member George Ramsay said: “How many have asked for permission in the past and not got it?”
“I’m not aware of any, George, and I have been here for seven years,” said committee chair Tweeddale East councillor Robin Tatler.
