PEEBLESSHIRE MP David Mundell is set to hold his annual surgery tour next week.

The Secretary of State for Scotland will visit 16 communities across Tweeddale, having already completed his trip across Dumfriesshire.

Now following an open surgery at Peebles Show last month, Mr Mundell will be available with no appointment necessary, as he plans to go to around 100 communities.

He told the Peeblesshire News: "I am looking forward to visiting venues across Tweeddale on my summer surgery tour which I have always thought to be hugely important in my role as a MP.

"I hold regular surgeries throughout the year but this gives people an opportunity to come and see me in their own communities rather than having to travel to see me.

"Despite my role as a Government minister, my first priority will always be to my constituents and helping them with any issues they may have," he added.

"This period always gives me more of an opportunity to get out and about in the Tweeddale area to engage with my constituents and I look forward to seeing them as I carry out my surgery tour."
