A NURSING teacher is the choice of the Scottish National Party to challenge for the position of local MP at the General Election.

Emma Harper will be aiming to oust Scotland’s only Conservative MP David Mundell, the incumbent of the Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale seat, on May 7.

“I am honoured and delighted to have been chosen by the members across this constituency, and I will work hard to secure the seat,” she said. “I encourage everyone to come out and help support the grassroots campaign and I’m looking forward to meeting everyone in the constituency, whether in person, or through the power of modern social media.” Emma is currently a clinical nurse educator in NHS Dumfries and Galloway with more than 30 years experience in NHS Scotland, NHS England and the private Healthcare system of the USA.

She grew up on a dairy farm in the Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale constituency and is passionate about promoting the south of Scotland.
