AS part of Innerleithen Church’s 150th anniversary celebrations, a special BBC-style Songs of Praise is being planned this Sunday (November 19).
It is not a service, as such, nor a concert, but an opportunity for people who love music to come along and enjoy a sing-along to some of the most popular hymns and tunes, and organisers are hoping to see the church, on Leithen Road, full with people.
Starting at 7pm on Sunday evening, the programme will be in two parts with a break for refreshments in between.
The singing will be led by Tweed Valley Male Voices providing harmonies and also a couple of anthems, augmented by a special-formed extra choir to balance the parts, with singers from the church choir, along with voices from other churches and other choirs taking part.
A spokesperson told us: "There may not be any BBC cameras, but everyone can enjoy an evening of praise and fellowship.
"Everyone is welcome, whether singers, or just listeners. Come along, help to raise the roof, and make the hills round Innerleithen alive with music."
