ON Saturday, March 7 24 members and friends of Innerleithen Walkerburn and Traquair Rotary met in the Union Club in Innerleithen for a unique dinner in aid of the Scottish charity, 500 Miles.
The fundraising event which raised £500, consisted of a network of 600 other dinners eaten across the world trying to raise £500,000. However every dinner will bring new life and hope to someone in Africa who needs an artificial limb to help them with mobility. The diners enjoyed a fine meal prepared by chef Rebecca using ingredients supplied by local companies Ross Dougal fish merchants, Peebles, Shaws Fine Meats and the Allotment in Innerleithen. The chocolate pot desert was donated by Sodexo Prestige. Entertainment was provided by a special live fast moving web-stream broadcast hosted by Fred Macaulay and Tonya Macari from The Scotsman building. They kept viewers up to date what was happening at other dinners by sharing tweets and photos with the Innerleithen event appearing on the screen!
