VOLUNTEERS are being sought to take part in an initiative to bring wildflowers to a popular Borders pathway.

Organisers are repeating the exercise of 12 months ago - but aiming for a bigger and better display on the Tweed Valley Railway Path at Innerleithen off Traquair Road.

The plan is to assemble at noon on Sunday, April 26 and spend around two hours sowing wildflower seed.

"The response to the small area we did last year was absolutely fantastic and this year we want to double the size of the area sown," said organiser Neil Cummings, a member of Innerleithen Community Council.

"Last year we had great support from Scottish Borders Council, Inspiring Innerleithen, the community council and, of course, the children, teachers and parents at St Ronan's School.

"This year as we are sowing a bigger area we need more people to come along and bring rakes, forks and hoes and if possible a packet of wild flower seed, particularly those that attract bees and butterflies.
