A PEEBLES chef has unveiled his new talent at filming, after creating a video showcasing the town to the world.

21-year-old James Millen from Walkerburn, works as a chef at the Tontine Hotel, and when he's not busy cooking up a storm in the kitchen, he's out filming or taking pictures around Peeblesshire.

In the first of potentially many more creations, James has uploaded a video of Peebles, filming across the town and the surrounding areas, plus comprising of a variety of shots and different recording techniques, such as time-lapses.

Since uploading his video of Peebles on Friday, October 28, it's racked up an excess of 800 views on YouTube.

James told us: "I got into filmmaking when I was at High School. I love how you can think of an idea and show it to a larger audience through filming and editing.

"I've always been fascinated with films and TV, how did they get this shot etc.

"The Peebles video took two days to shoot, on day one I had a friend (Daniel Kaim) helping with filming, and day two, I went and got all the pick up shot's and a couple more time-lapses which I still needed to make the final edit.

"It took around three hours until I had the edit completed, then another two hours colour grading and adding effects.

"I got footage from most parts of Peebles, including the top of Venlaw looking over Peebles and also got some nice footage from Neidpath Castle.

"The hardest part was writing Peebles with a phone torch in the half mile tunnel in pitch black. It took over a hour to get that one picture that you see at the start of the video, but was well worth it in the end.

"Feedback on the video has been amazing, with many people asking when I'm going to create the next one."

As part of James' future plans, he wants to create more video's and post them online following the launch of his YouTube channel.

He added: "Whenever I'm not at work as a chef at the Tontine Hotel, I have plans to do many more videos.

"I've just started my YouTube channel last month and have saved up to by a nice camera and editing desk to create more professional content."
