ROAD safety arrived in the classroom last week.

But the experts were left stumped by one Priorsford pupil's question.

Jodi Gordon, from Peebles-based Law firm, , joined Primary 5, 6 and 7 pupils at Priorsford Primary as part of their health week programme.

The specialist lawyer was invited to lead a workshop aimed at educating the pupils on how to remain safe both as pedestrians and cyclists.

Ms Gordon told the Peeblesshire News: “The workshop involved looking at the Highway Code, the importance of hi-viz clothing, cycle helmets and how to approach the various road crossings including Zebra, Toucan, Pelican, Puffin and Pegasus.”

During the workshop Jodi also covered the most common cycling and pedestrian road traffic incidents she deals with.

And she raised awareness of the potential dangers and situations where most care and attention is needed.

RTALS LLP represents many road users including pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists in courts across Scotland.

Top conclude the workshop Jodi answered the children’s questions about road safety.

But she was stumped by one request for answers.

Jodi added: “I enjoy talking to primary school pupils about the importance of road safety because they interact well with the activities planned, are always willing to learn and have plenty of questions.”

“However I must confess, I was unable to answer one particular question when asked how long does it take for the white paint to dry on a zebra crossing.

“Perhaps this is one for Scottish Borders Council!”
