PUPILS from Peebles High have gone to print with a pioneering new business venture.

The third year students, through the Entrepreneurs Foundation, were tasked with creating a new business product in conjunction with Stobo Castle.

And last month, after coming up with a range of ideas, the Stobo at Home magazine was published.

Jenni Watts, marketing director at Stobo, told the Peeblesshire News: “This has been an incredibly worthwhile venture – the range and quality of ideas the children came up with was very impressive and hopefully they will get a degree of satisfaction from seeing the final outcome. "

Stobo at Home is available to guests at the spa retreat as well as on sale at Cocoa Black and The Tontine Hotel in Peebles.

Caledonia Colour Printers from Peebles offered their design and printing services free of charge for the project.

And all profits from the sales of the magazine will go to High School funds.

Jenni added: "I’m delighted to confirm that the revenue generated for Peebles High School will be match-funded by Stobo Castle.”

Staff at Peebles High were quick to thank staff from Stobo Castle for their help.

Depute Head Paul Fagan said: "Peebles High School's young people have benefited significantly from this partnership.

"As a result of the creativity, commitment and inclusive approach demonstrated by the staff at Stobo and The Entrepreneurs Foundation, our young people are now better prepared for the world of work.”

Mark Thomson, a trustee of The Entrepreneurs Foundation, added “We want to inspire the next generation of entrepreneur’s. It’s about getting school pupils actively involved in the end to end process of developing real business solutions.

"Peebles High School working with Stobo Castle are a shining example of why this approach works.”
