PEEBLES community choir InChorus warmed up for the Edinburgh Fringe by singing between Texas and the Manic Street Preachers at the weekend.

The choir is set to showcase Get Happy with InChorus at the Assembly Roxy Central on August 14 as part of the celebrations in the capital.

To get them in the mood for the show, they travelled to Carfest North at Bolesworth Estate in Cheshire last weekend.

As well as performing for an hour on the open-air Choir Corner, the Peebles singers were invited onto the main stage to entertain Sunday's packed audience between chart-topper Texas and headliners the Manic Street Preachers.

Following on from the main stage singalong, InChorus members are now knuckling down with practice ahead of their Fringe show.

InChorus are no strangers to performing in festivals, having performed to large audiences at events across Scotland, and also New York, Dublin and England, all to wide acclaim.

Get Happy with InChorus showcases exciting new material together with some well-known crowd pleasers.

There will be songs by Billy Joel, George Michael and Aretha Franklin, Snow Patrol, Fun, Martha and the Vandellas, the Pointer Sisters, John Lennon, Justin Timberlake, Christopher Tin – and something from West Side Story.

The finale will be the beautiful duet of ‘Get Happy’ and ‘Happy Days are Here Again’ featuring two guest soloists accompanied by the full choir.

Musical Director Aly Skidmore told us: “The choir offers its own unique and eclectic mix of contemporary music.

"There’s everything from pop to jazz, and musicals to modern classical. T

"his blend, combined with the InChorus vibrant performance style, will guarantee that the audience will have an uplifting and toe-tapping time, ensuring that levels of happiness are raised considerably during the hour.”
