AHEAD of Holy Week beginning, St Andrew’s Leckie Church in Peebles is hosting another 24 hour prayer event.

What has become an annual event will run from 6pm this (Friday) evening until 6pm tomorrow.

And during the 24 hours, the church will be transformed into one large prayer space with plenty of quiet areas for reflection, things to read and encouragements to pray creatively.

The theme of this year's 24 hours is restoration.

Carrie Duthie from St Andrew's Leckie Church said: "As we look ahead to Holy Week this is an opportunity to consider what it means to be restored, in every sense, and what restoration looks and feels like both individually and within our community.

"It is the opportunity to come in our thirst and to know refreshing."

As in previous years there will be several led prayer sessions during the 24 hours.

From 6pm to 7.30pm the opening session will feature music and the opportunity to join in or to simply listen.

There will then be an hour of led listening prayer from 9pm to 10pm.

On Saturday there will be children’s activities from 11am to 12 noon.

And individuals can come to receive confidential prayer for healing from trained volunteers between 1pm and 2pm.

The prayer event is open throughout and anyone is invited to pop in at any time.

Carrie added: "Everyone is welcome, regardless of whether you pray regularly or have never prayed before.

"There will always be someone on hand to talk with if you like – just approach a steward.

"Amidst the bustle of this weekend take some time to slow down and still yourself in God’s presence, coming to Him for renewal and restoration."
