The gardens are divided into different categories for judging, one of which is the Secret Garden category. Secret Gardens cannot be seen from the road so have to be nominated by their owners, friends or neighbours.

Owners of five of this year’s Secret Gardens have kindly agreed to open their gardens to the public on Sunday, August 24 between 2pm and 4pm. They are all well worth a visit and show what can be done with time, an eye for colour and some planning. They are all very different: some are sheltered while others are exposed, some have been established for several years while one has been created on a new housing estate from a fairly barren plot. It will be interesting for other gardeners in Peebles to see what can be achieved and what plants thrive in Peebles soil and climactic conditions.

The event is free of charge. The gardens are listed below. Please note parking arrangements where listed.

Mr and Mrs Bowie, Glentress House, Innerleithen Road Mrs Joyce Syme, Westbank, Frankscroft (the cul-de-sac is second on the right when coming up Frankscroft from Caledonian Road, and the garden is at the far end of the cul-de-sac on the left.
