SHELTERED housing in Peebles has received top marks from government inspectors.

Eildon Housing Association’s sheltered housing service was scored as very good in all categories - quality of care and support, quality of staffing and the quality of management and leadership - by the Care Inspectorate following a recent visit.

Inspectors visited Riverside House in Peebles as well as Teviot Court in Hawick, Milar House in Melrose and Oakwood Park in Galashiels as well as Eildon’s head office in Selkirk.

A spokeswoman for the Care Inspectorate said: “The service actively followed the organisations participation strategy. Tenants felt involved and consulted to a high level.

“The service was well managed with an enthusiastic staff team at each development, who evidenced true commitment and enjoyment of their role.

“New tenants were given appropriate information and support to establish a successful start to their tenancy. A wide variety of activities and events were provided on a regular basis at each development.

“Tenants were encouraged to be active within the local community.” Nile Istephan, chief executive of Eildon Housing Association, is delighted with the findings in the inspection report. He told us: “We are delighted with another positive report especially coming on the back of a similar glowing report for Station Avenue, Duns. “It is an endorsement of our commitment to excellent services and a tribute to the hard work and dedication of our staff.”
