ADVENTUROUS Cameron Young threw himself off the Forth Rail Bridge two weeks ago.

And his daring deed has raised around 1500 for charity.

The Peebles Cornet was amongst several brave souls who abseiled off the iconic structure.

Under clear blue skies, they had to endure a 165 foot climb before taking the plunge by free-fall abseiling back down to earth.

And all of the money he raised will go towards the Peeblesshire Youth Trust's Christmas Hamper Appeal.

Coordinator for the Youth Trust, Angie Preston, was delighted with Cameron's efforts. She told the Peeblesshire News: "This money will help PYT to deliver much needed hampers to families across Peeblesshire.

"We usually deliver around 40 hampers a year, with an expected rise in numbers as families struggle to make ends meet.

"Cameron should be extremely proud of himself raising such an incredible amount." Cornet Cameron was supported by a strong crowd from Peebles who cheered his rapid descent.

And the day wouldn't have been the same without the familiar sound of the Peebles' hoorahs.

Angie added: "Thank you to everybody who sponsored Cameron and to those who came along on the day to support him." If any businesses or individuals would like to sponsor a Christmas Hamper, they can contact Angie on 07544904631 or email angie@peeblesshireyouthtrust.org
