MORE than 60 people packed into the restaurant at Whitmuir the Organic Place near West Linton to listen to the Amazing Carlops Jazz Band while feasting on Whitmuir’s delicious buffet and painlessly raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The band, led by sax player Colin Hall, delighted their audience with renditions of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Suzanne’, Petula Clark’s ‘Downtown’, the famous Dave Brubeck number ‘Take Five’ and many other foot-tapping pieces, both instrumental and vocal, with lead singer Annie Patch and backing trio The Carlopettes encouraging some people onto the floor to dance.

The evening raised £1000, plus £300 from the raffle and donations. Thanks for raffle prizes must go to the Dancing Light Gallery, Calm Hair & Beauty, the Horseshoe Restaurant and many individuals. And huge thanks to the Carlops Jazz Band and at Whitmuir for their support.
