West Linton Community First Responder Group currently has 16 volunteers ready to respond in an emergency.
In the last eight years, it has been called out to more than 150 999 calls in the area. However, their own defibrillator was reaching the end of its life.
Now, with the new equipment it can continue its life-saving work.
West Linton Community First Responder Group currently has 16 members, however it is on the look out for more.
They provide an early response in situations such as a heart or asthma attack before the ambulance crew arrives.
During the past 12 months alone the Group has provided Out of Hours and Weekend cover totalling around 6,000 hours. The group is pictured with the new defibrillator at a recent training session run by Bryan Finlay, the Scottish Ambulance Service’s Community Resuscitation Development Officer.
If you’re a resident of West Linton or nearby and you’d like to get involved with the Group please contact the Group Coordinator, Shauna Semain, by emailing: shauna.marieclaire@gmail.com.
