Sir, Most residents in Tweed Green, Peebles, are outraged over the decision to close the road for the TweedLove cycling festival and we would like to see it moved.

I am a disabled badge holder and, as I write this, I have not been able to park outside my home for four and a half days, due to the ‘no parking’ signs and I have had to park a long way away which made it difficult to carry heavy items.

I complained to the council but they say it is a big event and brings in a lot of money to the local economy.

I suggested that they might consider resurfacing the road as a reward for all the nonsense I have had to put up with but they said ‘no’.

The cycling festival created such a noise, it was dreadful. One man seemed to like practicising on his guitar late at night but they weren’t playing anything you would know what it was. We are so cross about it.

The worry is the event is only going to get bigger. I would like to see them base themselves at Victoria Park. It is not that close up to the houses and there is a bigger, flatter area up there.

We are told to look out for the cyclists when we are out walking but the cyclists should look out for us.

I am, etc.
