PEEBLES athlete Aaron Gray has returned from his first senior Transplant Games with a bronze medal.

And he is desperate to find a coach to help him climb the podium next year on home soil.

The 19-year-old, who had a combined life-saving liver and small bowel transplant when he was just three, has regularly competed at the junior games.

But last weekend he took his first steps onto the adult championships in Liverpool as part of the Edinburgh team.

The Borders College student, who also plays football for the Borders Disability Team, finished third in the final of the men's 200 metres.

Aaron was inched out of a medal in the 100 metres - crossing the line in fourth.

And he also finished fourth in the bowling final.

The Transplant Games return to Scotland next year, when they are staged in North Lanarkshire.

And he hopes to improve his technique and speed ahead of the championships by finding an athletics coach.

Mum Catriona Hamilton told us: "Aaron's intending on making it a bumper year when the Games come to Scotland by competing in new events, although running is his best chance of medals.

"Aaron doesn't have a running coach, and as adults events are far more competitive he needs help to improve.

"If anyone locally was willing to help him out a bit in the lead up to next year's Games he'd be truly grateful."
