PEEBLESHIRE bikers were saddled for success at the weekend's Scottish National Cross Country Mountain Bike Championship.

Local riders claimed three titles at Forfar as well as other podium places.

And there was a birthday bonus for Isla Short who celebrated her 20th birthday by blazing a trail around Reid Park to win the Elite Women's race.

Isla, who now rides for Novus OMX, led from the start to cross the finishing line more than two minutes ahead of Kerry MacPhee from South Uist.

Lucy Grant from Peebles Cycling Club finished strongly to take third place.

There was further success for Peebles Cycling Club with Corran Carrick-Anderson taking victory in the Boys race.

But he was made to work hard as the first three were evenly matched.

The Peebles rider timed it to perfection and sped down the hill to take the victory by two seconds from Jamie Johnston (Pro Vision Cycle Clothing) and Rory McGuire (Perth City Cycles).

Elena McGorum was beaten into second place in the Girls race by Edinburgh's Anna Flynn with Niamh Doherty from Glasgow taking third.

But there was further success for Peebles Cycling Club with Anna McGorum winning the Youths Girls race by over a minute.

Anna held a commanding lead all the way to the finish to beat Polly Henderson and Ishbel Strathdee.
