Gala Vixen Minis 10

FOLLOWING an opening tournament to determine Division 1 and Division 2 teams, the first three full matches of the inaugural and innovative Border Developers’ Netball League were played in Peebles at the weekend.

The league brings together players from P6 to S3 in matches and tournaments with the champions of the league being the team which improves most from start to finish of the season.

The league is also a centre for trainee umpires with no fewer than six new trainees mentored through their matches by experienced umpires. The league provides further innovation with coaches providing positive feedback to their peers from opposing teams following each match.

The closest match of the day was the Division 2 fixture between Peebles Planets and Gala Vixen Minis, with the Planets starting well, but Gala Vixens closing down the score in the final minutes and threatening throughout.

The win “promotes” the Planets, the youngest team in the league, into Division 1 for next league day.

Tweeddale Tigers drop down to Division 2 to face the Vixens, but with all still to play for as promotions and demotions continue following each league outing.

The next league matches are on Sunday, November 13 from 2pm to 5pm at Peebles High School.

Spectators welcome.
