THREE of Peebles Netball's leading teams are now dressed to impress.

Last weekend representatives from Clubsport Tweeddale handed over a funding cheque to the club for £1500.

And after a decade of winning trophies and titles the age-group strips can now be replaced.

Linda Nicholson, who is chair of Peebles Netball, was overjoyed with the funding. She told us: "As a club we are just entering our second decade and a lot of the equipment we bought when we started is in need of being replaced.

"We approached Clubsport Tweeddale to see if they could help and we were amazed by their generosity."

The £1500 will be used to kit out three teams in new dresses.

And the club will also be able to replace their balls as well as other ageing equipment ahead of forthcoming cup matches.

Peebles Netball now has 11 competitive junior teams who compete at national level.

And fundraising has become an ongoing part of the club with a recent race night raising over £1,000.

Linda added: "When we first started Peebles Netball our aim was to make the sport available to every woman and girl in Peeblesshire.

"With our adult league and recreational sessions as well as the competitive teams we have now achieved that aim.

"It all comes at a cost and that is why fundraising and grants like this one from Clubsport Tweeddale are so important."
