Gregor Swinney led the way with one gold, three silvers and three bronzes and his teammates Kate Banner (silver) and Finlay Dewar (bronze) also had podium finishes.

The trio were among six members of Peebles Amateur Swimming Club who took part in the Falkirk Integrated Regional Swim Team Open on January 24 and 25. This is an open meet with competitors’ ages potentially ranging from 8-99 and medals given in each age group.

In the 16 and overs section Gregor took gold in the 200m breaststroke, a silver in the 200m backstroke, 50m butterfly and the 50m backstroke. He won bronze in the 50m freestyle, breaststroke and 200m freestyle.

Kate, taking part in the 8-11 year-old group, won a silver in the 50m butterfly and finished eighth in the 50m backstroke, improving her time in both events.

Competing in the 14-15 year old age group, Finlay landed bronze in the 100m backstroke came fourth in the 50m breaststroke and fifth in both the 50m and 200m freestyle, improving on all his entry times.

In the same age group Katherine Swinney came fifth in the 50m backstroke, sixth in the 50m butterfly and seventh in the 50m freestyle improving on her entry time in all three races. She also swam the 200m backstroke.

In the 12-13 year old girls group Jodie Pyman came eighth in the 100m butterfly with a time improvement in this as well as her 50m freestyle, and 100m backstroke. She also swam the 100m individual medley.

Isla Cross, competing the 8-11 year old age group, came sixth in the butterfly improving her entry time. She also swam the 50m and 200m backstroke.
