CRAIG Howie will receive his first full Scotland cap next week after being selected for the Men’s Home Internationals team.

And he will become the first Peebles player since Allan Turnbull to earn senior honours for his country.

Craig will line-up for Scotland against England, Wales and hosts Ireland at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland from August 12 to 14.

Craig has been rewarded for an excellent 2015 season which has seen him finish 3rd in the St Andrews Links Trophy and joint leading qualifier in The British Amateur Championship.

With younger brother Darren playing for the Scotland Boys team this week in Wales, Peebles is the only club represented at both boys and men’s levels this season.

Darren opened his account with a foursomes and singles win on the opening day against Ireland as the young Scots won 10-5.

We’ll have a full report on Darren’s exploits in Wales, next week.

Medal Joy for Meikle - An excellent level par scratch score of 70, which included four birdies, gave Ally Meikle victory in Saturday’s Scotsdale August medal. The three-handicapper’s net score of 67 was matched by David Barr and Iain Mitchell, but it was Meikle’s better inward half which gave him top spot. Club champion Jamie Morris topped the scratch leaderboard with a fine 69.
