KIWI powerhouse Warren Kearney has won the RBS October Try of the Month.

The number eight's touchdown against Hawick YM at the Gytes - which saw the ball move from deep in Pees' own half - won the vote at Murrayfield.

Kearney, who is also a youth coach at Peebles, said: "It's a bit of a shock to have won this award, it was a team try that I'm lucky enough to have been rewarded for.

"We've been playing an expansive game of rugby this season and that has seen lots of players in the team score some good tries."
