WHO is your Tweeddale Sports Personality of the Year?
Peeblesshire News readers are being invited to nominate their local sports stars ahead of the Tweeddale Sports Awards at the Eastgate Arts Centre in Peebles on Friday, April 12.
They recognise local sporting achievement and, in the case of the National Association's Service to Local Sport Awards, an individual's contribution to his or her sport over a much longer period.
The annual awards are organised by Tweeddale Sports Council, with support from the Bank of Scotland, The Gytes Leisure Centre and Borders Sport and Leisure Trust's Sports Development Unit, as well as the Peeblesshire News. The categories are as follows - Sports Personality of the Year 2012; Junior Sports Personality of the Year 2012 (under 18 on January 1, 2013); Gytes Coach of the Year 2012; Junior Coach of the Year 2012 (Under 23 on January 1, 2013); Team of the Year 2012 and Service to Local Sport.
The closing date for nominations is Monday, February 18. Nomination forms can be returned to Robb's Newsagents, The Gytes Leisure Centre, Peebles Swimming Pool or by contacting Border's Sports Development Unit, 3 St John Street, Galashiels, TD1 3JX.
Information or reminders about local sports stars who were selected for national representation during 2012 will also be welcomed.
