THE Linton Singers and instrumentalists from the Edinburgh Renaissance Band will give a concert in Carlops Church tonight (Friday, November 28) at 8pm to raise funds to support the Disaster Emergency Committee’s Ebola Appeal.
The choir and instrumentalists will perform the Christmas Story by Heinrich Schütz. Schütz was a German composer born in 1585 exactly a century before Bach and ranks as one of his greatest precursors. He studied in Venice under G Gabrieli and became a court conductor in Copenhagen.
The evening’s music will tell the Christmas story with beautiful choral and solo music. The significant solo part of the Evangelist will be sung by the talented tenor David Arulanantham.
Refreshments will be served after the performance.
Tickets are not required, but donations will be invited to support the DEC Ebola Appeal.
