AROUND 80 guests gathered for the senior citizens’ social, which was hosted by St Ronan’s Border Games Committee and was the opening event of the 2014 festival.
Chairman Keith Belleville welcomed the guests as well as Standard Bearer-Elect Robbie Scott, his Lass Rachel Lauder and their supporters.
First-class entertainment was provided by Selkirk’s Bogie Close Stompers. Following this, a light supper was served by members of the Games Committee.
Later, music for dancing was provided by Jimmy Gold. At 10pm, the Standard Bearer’s Party danced an energetic reel – the first of the week. At the conclusion of the night the company gathered to sing Auld Lang Syne and the chairman wished everyone a happy Games Week.
