FESTIVAL Lass Skye Houston lit up Walkerburn.
She switched on the Christmas lights during a carol service in the village.
And the community turned out in numbers to show their support.
Nursery teacher Heather Lees, who led the singing, said: “We would like to thank everyone for coming along tonight despite the cold weather.
“Especially Murray Anderson for singing solo, Bob Ballantyne who put up the lights with Ian Thomson, Craig Glendinning and Jim Grieves in the cherry picker.
“And I mustn’t forget the life-size elf cutouts which were handmade and painted by Robert Haddow.”
