BORDERS patients are amongst the best in Scotland when it comes to keeping appointments.

And the region’s health board are also performing better than almost every other region when it comes to cancellations.

The latest figures show that only five per cent of appointments were missed in the NHS Borders region during the six months up to the start of January. The Scottish average figure stands at nearly eight per cent.

And it is much lower than the 12 per cent high that NHS Borders endured five years ago.

The number of forced cancellations by the health board is also at an all time low with only 3.9 per cent of the 8,801 appointments requiring to be rescheduled during the third quarter of 2014/15.
