ABANDONING your car to grab a quick pie could prove to be a costly exercise, warns a local police officer.
PC Chris Burnside is clamping down against illegal parking in Innerleithen.
“Pies are costing some motorists £34 and they will soon get the message that they can’t do this,” he told a meeting of the town’s community council.
“I am trying to be more active with tickets. I’ve already issued four this month and quite a few drivers have been warned. I’m a pretty fair guy, so I will give them a chance.
“But this is a message that needs to get through as it is creating a bottleneck in the High Street.”
