KAILZIE Gardens in Peebles is offering the opportunity to enjoy some first-class entertainment this summer while enjoying a picnic in beautiful surroundings.

Next month the venue is staging a night of live jazz music and in August Shakespeare-lovers will have the opportunity to watch an unusual take on A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

The event takes place on Saturday, July 25 from 7pm to 9pm. Tickets costing £10 can be bought from Whitie’s bookshop, Kailzie Gardens and John Steele on 01721 723098. Bring your own picnic!

On Friday, August 14 the HandleBards present A Midsummer Night’s Dream at 5pm in the walled garden.

The HandleBards is Shakespeare done differently. The four-strong, all male company are back on their bikes and cycling the UK for their third season.

On just four bicycles they carry all the necessary set, props and costumes to perform two of Shakespeare’s greatest plays, using bikes to power various surprises and contraptions on-stage, whilst playing all the parts.

The HandleBards were winners of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Sustainable Practice Award 2014.

As four young lovers flee into the forest they fall victim to the magical whims of the faeries – a hilarious series of complications ensues. What better way to see one of Shakespeare’s most-loved comedies enjoying a picnic in the garden on a summer’s evening?

Tickets are priced £12 (concessions £10). Book early to guarantee as seat! Call on 01721 720007.
