A THREE figure sum of money, jewellery, and a collection of commemorative coins were a few of the items stolen during two house-breakings in West Linton.
The first incident was reported in the early hours of Sunday, June 19, when the occupants returned to their home on Dolphinton Road, half a mile south west of West Linton.
A three figure sum of cash and the valuable coins were stolen.
The second break-in occurred in Dolphinton sometime between 10:30am on Thursday, June 6, and 12:45pm on Sunday, June 19.
A quantity of jewellery, including numerous bracelets, chains and necklaces were robbed.
Police are carrying out enquiries in an effort to trace those responsible and are seeking the assistance of the public.
PC Andy Loughlin of the Community Investigation Unit based at Galashiels, said: "Given the similarities of each break-in we believe there is a strong possibility that they are linked.
"Both homes are fairly secluded and unoccupied at the time they were targeted. As such I want to hear from anyone who was in the area around the time of these thefts and who noticed any unusual behaviour.
"Housebreaking is among the most intrusive crimes that we deal with and we are committed to swiftly arresting anyone involved in this offence."
Those with relevant information are asked to contact police on 101 or the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
