SHOPPERS and stall-holders in Innerleithen have taken part in the town’s first ever Sunday market.

Plans to launch the Innerleithen Sunday market were devised by Natasha Haley and several other small and local business owners.

The event was first held on Sunday, October 30, at the Tweedside Hotel in Innerleithen, bringing many of these businesses all under one roof.

Following the launch day, the event has been hailed a success by organisers, with plans already in place to continue to hold it on the last Sunday of every month.

The market aims to sell a variety of food, drinks, clothes, books and more to shoppers.

Organiser Natasha Haley told the Peeblesshire News: “The Sunday market was started in a bid to bring Christmas, and more long-term shopping to more small, local business owners.

“There are a lot of working mums running home businesses in the area and an event like this will really make the difference to the income their family makes, and that is what this is all about.

"It’s also about bringing about a sense of community. My partner and I absolutely love getting to know the people in the local area and since starting our business we have met so many new and interesting people.

“We love seeing people come together, and this market has already brought us new friends, and connected people who would not have been connected otherwise.”

Natasha added that she would love to see market grow and become a regular fixture: “We hope to make the market a regular thing, the last Sunday of the month, every month!”
