PREPARATIONS are underway ahead of the Cornet Installation events in Peebles this evening.

Launching the events tonight, the Cornet Installation will take place at 6pm outside the Parish Church.

Next up, the Principals will 'Ride the Marches' and arrive at Neidpath Castle at 7.15pm.

The 'Fording of the Tweed' will take place at 8.30pm and the riders all head up to the north side of the golf course for the annual horse race at 9pm.

At 10.15pm, the Cornet, Lass and supporters will dance the reel in the High Street.

Depsite the gloomy forecast by the Met Office, Chairman of the Peebles Beltane Festival Keith Brunton told the Peeblesshire News: "Our events are still going ahead this evening. We'll not let the rain get in the way of proceedings."
