On Sunday, October 1, Biggar Bridge Club celebrated it’s 20th Anniversary with a special fund raising event for St Andrew’s Hospice.
Cathy Cursiter Club Chairperson welcomed both members and visitors. President,Mrs Beth Wilson gave a comprehensive account of the club’s history.
From its origins in social Bridge it has risen to its present day stature of about one hundred members occupying its own premises in Market Road Biggar.
She then unveiled an Honours Board, made by club member Philip Hudson.
This lists herself as President and all Chairpersons since 2011. Afterwards she cut a large celebration cake.
Thirty six players then enjoyed an afternoon session of Bridge. Congratulations to the winners: N/S P.Hudson & I.Henderson. E/W. M.Curle & T.Brown.
During the interval Mrs Margot Leadbitter spoke briefly about her work as a volunteer for St Andrew’s Hospice.
The club is delighted to have raised £310 for this worthy cause.
The committee would like to thank all those whose hard work made this such a successful occasion.
